Our story

The first person in my family to start an artistic career out of nothing was my grandfather...

One spark

…it all started like that, with a spark.

His manual skills were high, ambidextrous, he could do more than twice as much as his brothers using both hands independently.
One spring morning, enchanted by the view, he took a charcoal from the fireplace, and on the bottom of the wooden boxes began to draw what he saw and what inspired him.

From absolutely nothing and only with his own passion, which he put into everything he did, he began to draw more and more.

The turning point

… and the beginning of the artistic journey

The family realised that it was no longer time to keep him in the vineyard and, at the age of 13, took him to a relative who lived in Sesto San Giovanni (in the province of Milan) to start art and drawing schools.

He immediately stood out for his innate abilities and his keen eye for capturing an image, thus transferring its characteristics onto the paper.

The beginning of his career was interrupted by the First World War, which saw him at the front at the age of only 16.

Fortunately, he was able to resume his studies at the age of 18.

In a continuous crescendo ...

In a continuous growth both technically and in terms of ability, he was then taken into the ‘Fabbrica del Duomo’.

This activity was dedicated to the continuous reconstruction of the architectural details of Milan Cathedral.
Within a few years he became team leader and later director of the artistic and architectural branch of the decorators and sculptors. With his skills he learned the so-called new world language, Esperanto; this idiom enabled him to converse with all foreigners who knew it.

His passion and work were so intense that he managed to work until he was 80 years old; shortly afterwards he passed away.

His artistic vein was inherited from my father who, although he was not placed in art schools, started drawing, painting and frescoing of his own accord. All this was pure pleasure and fun, but with truly spectacular and emotional results.

My turn

I can’t measure up to my grandfather or my father, but…

For a few years now, I have been cultivating my creative vein, which runs in my family’s DNA, by transforming and converting useless (and even discarded) objects into useful and fascinating things. This led to the idea of creating design-inspired objects with unique features. Of purely technical extraction, thanks to the help of new technologies, I use this knowledge as a basis for the creation of my objects, together with the glorious history that has distinguished our country, Italy, for centuries.

Thanks to this indispensable ” mix ” of tradition, technique and emotions, the brand TALICO was born , a brand dedicated to rediscovering the manufacturing that has distinguished us for centuries and allows us to say we are proudly Italian.
Technical skills used with good imagination and flair, allow me to give a line and shape to simple objects, transforming and correcting them, making them more aesthetic and functional.

My objects reflect the Made in Italy craftsmanship tradition, creations that are appreciated all over the world!
